Tyrown Waigana

140 Perth launches Bilya Back Yaakin (Riverback Turtle) by Tyrown Waigana. This mural can be found in Mitchell Lane at 140 Perth, between The Coffee Club and Forever New.

Tyrown Waigana is a Wardandi Noongar and Ait Koedhal multidisciplinary artist and graphic designer.

His artwork features the Western Long-Neck turtle with squares on its shell to represent the Perth city. The mural signifies the intrinsic river systems that were present prior to the Perth city being built. 140 Perth is built on these river systems and the turtle is one of the animals that would have lived in this area.

Reflecting our ongoing allyship with the traditional owners and elders of Noongar Boodjar, 140 Perth acknowledges that we live and work on the lands belonging to the Whadjuk People of the Noongar nation.
