See ‘Stories That Resonate’ at the Maarakool Art Space located at 140 Perth.

140 Perth have partnered with Blank Walls to present a gallery and host free workshops featuring artists from WA and across Australia in the Maarakool creative art space.

Maarakool (translation: with our hands), led by Whadjuk Noongar storytellers, is an immersive and supportive art programme featuring talks and tours, co-creation murals and workshops.

WORKSHOP INFO

Join us in the Maarakool Creative Space to paint with local Blank Walls artist Mikaela Miller. She needs your helping hands to bring to life a canvas of striking local ‘Kambarang’ / October blooms.

This workshop is designed for all ages, young or old, providing a supportive and engaging session to build skills through teaching various painting and application techniques.

Participants will be part of painting a large scale temporary wall structure right inside the Maarakool Creative Space!

This workshop is designed for artists of all ages! Any participants under the age of 15 are to be accompanied by an adult / guardian throughout the workshop.

 

ARTIST INFO

Mikaela Miller is a young Western Australian Artist -trained in both design and community development, working predominantly as a public artist, printmaker and as an arts facilitator – running workshops and coordinating community art projects.

Mikaela currently works out of a studio at Goolugatup Heathcote, beside the beautiful Derbal Yerrigan (Swan River).

Mikaela typically works with images of native flora. She is fascinated by the variety and distribution of species both around Australia and the world.

Join Artist Jimmy Pringle for a ‘Skate Deck’ design and paint workshop. Attendees will be supported through the artistic process of designing and painting a bespoke skate deck that can be taken home at the end of the workshop.

This workshop is designed for artists aged 12+, providing a creative and engaging session to build skills through teaching various painting and application techniques on Skateboard Decks.

Objectives of this workshop are:

– Give participants an insight to the design and application of art on a unique canvas.

– All participants will be engaged and take something positive away from the experience.

Any participants under the age of 12 are to be accompanied by an adult / guardian throughout the workshop.

 

ARTIST INFO

Jimmy Pringle is a self taught artist from the Margaret river region working predominantly with acrylic and aerosol, and also works commercially on branding projects and mural commissions. He learned to draw as a kid, copying his favourite skate decks, and always found street art really inspiring. As a result, these influences can be clearly seen in his art style.

Lately, Pringle focuses more on portraying nature in his work, hoping to convey the sense of appreciation and connection he feels from his roots in the South West.

Some of Pringle’s work includes branding for breweries and wineries, public and private murals, and a solo show with Livid Skateboards.

WORKSHOP INFO

Join Artist Pantone C for a Graffiti Art Workshop. This workshop is designed for ages 12+, providing a creative and engaging session to build new skills through teaching various painting and application techniques with water based spray cans and paint pens.

Participants will be provided their own canvas to design and graffiti, with guidance from Urban artist Pantone C.

Objectives of this workshop are:

– Educate participant on the history and practice of street art and graffiti

– Give participants an insight to the design and application of graffiti street art.

– All participants will be engaged and take something positive away from the experience.

Any participants under the age of 12 are to be accompanied by an adult / guardian throughout the workshop.

 

ARTIST INFO

PANTONE C has engaged in urban art for over 10 years. In 2007, he learned advanced urban art drawing skills & spraying techniques in Australia. In 2012, he received his Diploma of Fine Arts from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

While PANTONE C focuses on teaching and promoting urban art, he collaborated in many corporate brands for different art projects. His clientele includes some well-known brands and companies, such as Vans, Converse, GAP, Mini Cooper, Maybelline, Quiksilver, Towngas, Urban Renewal Authority, Art Promotion Office, etc.
